VENUE – Eastern Michigan University

The 2025 National Place-Based Education Conference is being held at the Eastern Michigan University Student Center in Ypsilanti (ip-sil-ÂN-tē), Michigan.

In addition to our conference space, the center features a wide range of eatery choices, fireplace lounges, the EMU Bookstore, EMU Credit Union, wireless internet access, and two art galleries. 

The building was designed with earth-friendly features such as energy saving lighting, glass walls to allow natural lighting, bottle refilling stations, and recycling bins throughout. Conference “Outdoor/Experiental” sessions will take place outside on the surrounding grounds, utilizing the nearby “Lake House” as a meeting location. 

Shuttle transportation between the EMU Student Center and conference hotel (10-minute ride) will be provided throughout the conference.

Accessibility

The Student Center is handicapped accessible and contains a lactation room, a meditation/reflection room, and a foot washing station.
